The Unconventional Wedding: Payton Pritchard’s Nuptials Officiated by Blake Griffin

Over the weekend, Boston Celtics guard Payton Pritchard tied the knot with YouTuber Emma MacDonald in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. What made this wedding truly unique and unconventional was the fact that it was officiated by none other than six-time NBA All-Star Blake Griffin.

Griffin, who was Pritchard’s teammate during the 2022-23 NBA season, played a significant role in the couple’s relationship right from the beginning. MacDonald revealed that Griffin was there to offer Pritchard advice when they first started talking and even accompanied them on one of their dates as a third wheel. It was only fitting that Griffin, a close friend of the couple, officiated their wedding last Saturday.

Celtics star Jaylen Brown shared a snippet of the ceremony where Griffin amused the crowd with his impersonation of Pritchard. MacDonald expressed her appreciation for Griffin’s role in the wedding, stating that he kept the ceremony light-hearted and enjoyable. The couple’s decision to have Griffin officiate the wedding certainly added a fun and memorable twist to the event.

Pritchard and MacDonald’s relationship, which began in 2021, culminated in their engagement in July 2023. The wedding was attended by prominent figures from the Celtics organization, including governor Wyc Grousbeck, head coach Joe Mazzulla, and Pritchard’s teammates Oshae Brissett, Sam Hauser, and Xavier Tillman.

Pritchard’s on-court performance has also garnered attention, particularly during the postseason last year. Despite averaging 6.4 points, 2.1 assists, and 1.9 rebounds in limited minutes per game, Pritchard made a lasting impact with his impressive half-court shot in Game 5 of the NBA Finals. The shot was hailed as the longest in NBA Finals history for the past 25 years, further solidifying Pritchard’s place in Celtics lore.

Payton Pritchard and Emma MacDonald’s wedding officiated by Blake Griffin was a celebration filled with laughter, joy, and camaraderie. The unconventional choice of having a former NBA star preside over the ceremony added a unique touch to the occasion, making it truly unforgettable for all in attendance.
